| WELCOME TO NBHA CALIFORNIA DISTRICT 7! |

California District 7 of the National Barrel Horse Association is pleased to provide quality, high-speed events for barrel racers from Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Mendocino, Humboldt, and Lake Counties. We welcome all barrel racers - from young to old and beginners to professionals. Local events are held at the Napa Horseman’s Association Arena, Lake County Fairgrounds Grand Pavilion Arena, Duncan Mills Rodeo Grounds, Sebastopol Wranglers Arena and Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa. We also participate in the NBHA California State Championship and World Championship Shows. In fact, in 2006 the District had a record 36 members qualify for the Youth and Open World Championships! We invite you to take a look at our Sponsors Page, Race Results, District Point Standings, 2007 Calendar and News & Information pages. Better yet – come play with us – non-members are always welcome at any of our events for a $10 non-member fee (per NBHA Rulebook, Section B, Number 15 1/06), or avoid the fee and join at any race, online at National Barrel Horse Association, or fill out a membership form and bring it to any event or send it in! You may pre-enter any District 7 race through Payraces.com and pay with a check or credit card. However, due to the high number of non-sufficient funds checks received, EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2007 anyone choosing to enter the same day of the race MUST PAY BY CASH ONLY. Register for any District 7 event through PayRaces.com – just visit the site and sign-up for a new user account! Don’t worry about running late any more – register early and take your time to warm-up and visit with friends!
TIME-ONLY POLICYTime-onlys will always start 90 minutes before the advertised race time and close 30 minutes prior to race time. It is your responsibility as a participant to arrive early enough to purchase your tickets, get your horse ready and use your time-onlys. Do not wait until the last minute to arrive and expect to purchase or use your tickets - help is always needed (and appreciated) with setting the pattern, timers, barrels, etc. A limited number of tickets are sold at every race - if we are running behind we reserve the right to cutoff time-onlys 30 minutes before advertised race time. TIME-ONLY TICKETS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE, however they may be saved for the next race. WINTER WEEKNIGHT SERIESThank you to everyone who participated in the Winter Weeknight Series! It was a great success. A big thank-you for everyone abiding by the pre-entry rule for the series - it made a HUGE difference in the entire series - allowing us to get started on time, finish early and made everything run smoothly. I especially appreciate the opportunity to participate on an even playing field with all of you (and so does my horse!). While pre-entering won't be a rule for the rest of the year, let's keep it up and continue to have our races run smooth, efficient and on time. A huge THANK YOU to Liz Pellandini and Randy Whitlow for picking up and returning the tractor from JUST ASK RENTALS for each of the series races - and a special Thank You to JUST ASK RENTALS for supporting the Winter Series by providing a VERY reduced tractor rental rate. I would also like to thank all the District members and parents who helped set barrels, gates, announce and everything else - it makes everything run smoothly when everyone helps! Congratulations to our Winter Series Average Award Winners - Division Champions received Hair-On Trophy Mayatex blankets and Reserve Champions received Hair-On Trophy Gear Bags. What is divisional barrel racing? The NBHA uses a four division (4-D) format. This makes it possible for the beginning, intermediate and advanced barrel racer to compete AND WIN in the same event. There are three NBHA 4-D Classes, the YOUTH 4-D for ages 18 and under and the OPEN 4-D for any age. There is also a SENIOR 4-D for competitors 50 years of age and older. All riders, regardless of ability, run in the same 4-D barrel race (Open, Youth, or Senior). The four divisions are then determined by time brackets. With the 4-D format, the OVERALL fastest time of the race is used to set the time brackets for the four divisions.Divisions are determined by time brackets, not by order of finish. In the Open, Youth, and Senior, the fastest time of a contestant in the class, WHETHER OR NOT A MEMBER OF THE NBHA, will determine the time brackets as follows: 1st division (1D)- Fastest time in the class and those who
place in this division. In a 4-D payout, the total jackpotted entry fees of a class is to be divided 35% to the 1st Division, 30% to the 2nd Division, 20% to the 3rd Division, and 15% to the 4th Division. NBHA points will be awarded in all classes and divisions on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis for 1st place through 5th place among NBHA members in that competition district only, regardless of the number of entries or paying places. If two or more riders tie, the points for the tied positions should be added together and divided equally among the riders who tied. |
